Australian Dendritic Opal Rock Slab 47

Australian Dendritic Opal is a glassy opalite that is filled with very intricate black dendrites on a variety of background colors.  The semi-transparent opalite material takes a brilliant polish to set off the distinctive feathery dendritic pattern.  A challenging material to work with as it tends to be a bit brittle, the extra effort to make a finished piece is well worth it.

Dimensions: 4.25" x 3" and approximately 7.1 mm thick.  Weight = 103 g.
